In preparation for the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026), Statistics Indonesia (BPS) organized a cross-ministerial meeting under the theme "Collaboration Among Ministries/Agencies to Achieve a Resilient and Independent Indonesian Economy," held in Jakarta on December 9-10, 2024.
Harmawanti Marhaeni, Director of Finance, Information amd Communiction Technology, and Tourism Statistics at BPS and Vice Chair of SE2026 Secretariat Team, emphasised that the initial data sources for SE2026 should come not only from BPS but also from relevant ministries and agencies. She explained that the Economic Census is not just the responsibility of BPS but a collaborative effort involving all stakeholders.
“The purpose of this meeting is to promote the activities of SE2026 while strengthening coordination between BPS and the ministries/agencies for the preparation and use of SE2026 data. And, of course, we continue to seek the support of the ministries and agencies present at this event,” said Harmawanti. The panel discussion featured Ichsan Zulkarnaen from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Adi Trisnojuwono from the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and Himawan from the Ministry of Industry, moderated by Heru Margono, Senior Statistician at BPS.
The following day, another Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on SE2026 preparation was held at the same venue, targeting business representatives from building and market management associations. The primary purpose of this FGD was not only to promote SE2026 but also to reassure business owners about the data confidentiality measures in place for the census. "We take full responsibility for the confidentiality of the data we collect, and we protect it," said M. Ari Nugraha, Senior IT Officer at BPS.
Joko Parmiyanto, Director of BPS’s Statistical Information Systems, provided further details about data confidentiality, saying, “BPS has implemented a secure Data Centre environment with IT security measures in place to prevent any data security incidents, misuse, or data breaches."
