Several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet and relevant government institutions, including Statistics Indonesia (BPS), convened a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment (Kemenko PM) on January 30 to discuss poverty alleviation efforts. Addressing poverty, particularly extreme poverty, remains a key priority for President Prabowo Subianto.
The meeting, chaired by Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, was attended by several ministers and institutional leaders, including the Minister of State Secretary, Minister of Social Affairs, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Head of the National Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency, and Acting Chief Statistician of BPS.
During a press briefing, Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar emphasized that the discussion focused on tackling extreme poverty. Responding to media inquiries, Acting Chief Statistician of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, highlighted the critical role of data in ensuring the effectiveness of poverty alleviation programs across the country. She reaffirmed BPS's commitment to providing high-quality data to support policymakers and national development priorities.
