Information and Communication Technology Development Index 2020

Information and Communication Technology Development Index (ICT-DI) was developed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). ICT-DI is a standard measure level of ICT development in an area that can be compared over time and between regions. In addition, ICT-DI measures ICT development growth, digital gap between regions, and ICT development potential. 2021 is the sixth year BPS calculates ICT-DI using the latest method based on 2016 Measuring Information Society book published by ITU. In the calculation, there are 11 indicators compiling ICT-DI divided into 3 sub-indexes, namely ICT access and infrastructure sub-index, ICT use sub-index, and ICT skills sub-index. Data used for calculating ICT-DI comes from BPS and secondary data from Ministry of Communication and Information. In 2020, ICT-DI was 5.59, an increase compared to 2019 that was 5.32. ICT-DI score uses 0−10 scale, which 10 shows the highest achievement of the indicator.
