Abstract


In August 2019 the value of imports reached USD14,169.4 million, down 8.69 percent (USD1,349.1 million) compared to the previous month. Similarly, the volume fell 6.83 percent to 12,679.7 thousand tons. The August 2019 import value consisted of oil and gas imports of USD1,630.5 million (11.51 percent) and non-oil and gas USD12,538.9 million (88.49 percent).
Of the total import value from January to August 2019, the main countries of origin were China with USD28,677.1 million (25.64 percent), followed by Singapore with USD11,127.2 million (9.95 percent), and Japan with USD10,511.2 million (9.40 percent). Viewed from the category of economic goods usage, it is still dominated by imports of raw / auxiliary materials at USD77,920.2 million (74.99 percent), followed by capital goods at USD16,803.5 million (16.19 percent), and consumer goods at USD9,192 5 million (8.82 percent).
According to the 1 digit SITC (Standard International Trade Classification) goods category, the main group of imported goods is the machinery and transportation equipment group with a value of USD36,121.9 million (32.29 percent). During January-August 2019, the port located in DKI Jakarta Province was still a place for loading and unloading of major imported goods in Indonesia with a portion of 52.07 percent (USD58,247.3 million).
