Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) conducted a Visit during the Recess of the V Session of 2023-2024 in Bali's Gianyar Regency from August 5-9, 2024. The visit was led by I Gusti Agung Rai Wirajaya and included seven members of Commission XI. BPS (Statistics Indonesia), as a key partner of Commission XI, participated in the meeting held at the Customs Office of Denpasar on 5 August 2024. BPS was represented by Principal Inspector Dadang Hardiwan, accompanied by the BPS Bali Province team. Other partners in attendance included the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), and the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP).
The meeting was opened by I Gusti Agung Rai Wirajaya, the leader of the Commission XI visit team and a legislative representative from the Bali electoral district. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the visit aimed to gain a clearer understanding of strategic issues related to fiscal policy and tax revenue in Bali, with the goal of formulating necessary steps to enhance the effectiveness of these policies in the future.
Representing the Ministry of Finance, Suminto, Director General of Financing and Risk Management, discussed several key topics, including the impact of fiscal policies on Bali's economic development, industry, and tourism over the past three years, as well as tax revenue targets and achievements by the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in Bali during the same period.
During the BPS presentation, Dadang Hardiwan provided an update on Bali's inflation trends in 2024 and highlighted the province's macroeconomic indicators from 2023. On a national scale, Bali's economic performance in 2023 was relatively strong, with a growth rate of 5.71 percent. However, he noted that the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, a significant contributor to Bali's economy, experienced a contraction of -0.59 percent.
The visit aimed to foster collaboration between the Commission XI members and their partner institutions, ensuring that Bali's fiscal and economic policies are aligned with the province's growth and development needs.
