The BPS-Statistics Indonesia, represented by the Deputy Chief Statistician for Methodology and Statistical Information, Imam Machdi, officially welcomed a visit from the delegation of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Monday (4/3).
The visit, which will be followed by four days of technical discussions, aims to provide a series of technical assistance in the development of the "Mixed Method" for calculating the rice data, currently in progress.
During this opening meeting, speakers from the National Development Planning Agency (the Bappenas) and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (the BRIN), as well as the Director of Census and Survey Methodology Development at BPS, were present to provide insights.
"The utilization of earth observation data for the modernization of agricultural statistics presents a significant opportunity to optimize cost-effective data collection. However, it is crucial to emphasize that the adoption of new methods cannot happen instantly; assurance in the precision of these methods is necessary," stated Imam in his address.
