"The training is organized to provide a complete, accurate, relevant and up-to-date parent framework, and the census block map (BS) is not only used for census and survey activities but also for geospatial analysis," explained Heru Margono, Director of Development Census and Survey Methodology, in his opening speech at the opening of the Innas Candidate Training for the Preparation of Basic Map and the Working Population Statistics (Wilkerstat) Population Census (SP2020), Monday (2/7) .The event was held at Grand Aston Hotel, Yogyakarta on 2- July 6, 2018.

Wilkerstat is the working area of statistics for census and survey activities organized by BPS. The rapid development, of course, causes a lot of changes in load on the BS wilkerstat. The updating of the shape and position of Wilkerstat's digital maps is prepared to support data collection organized by BPS.

"The updating of Wilkerstat SP2020 base map will also be used as the master frame of census and survey activity in 2020-2030. Preparation of maps wilkerstat using geospatial technology, "explains Isra Natalisa Ginting, Head of Development Subdirektorat Mapping Statistics who is also chairman of the activity committee. Some of the technologies used include satellite imagery, Global Positioning System (GPS) devices, and Geographic Information System (GIS).

Heru further said that forward data collection leads to the use of Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) and Computer Aided Web Interviewing (CAWI).
A proper digital BS map is certainly needed to support the census and BPS surveys.

After delivering the material on Thursday (5/7), participants will follow the Amazing Race activity of geotagging the buildings / landmarks / locations visited using Mobile Data Collector application. The results of these activities are synchronized into Arc-GIS BPS portal which will be displayed in the story map. This Amazing Race activity is supported by Esri Indonesia facilitator.
