Abstract

Analysis Current Issues 2021 is an annual publication released by BPS-Statistics Indonesia. This publication presents an overview of several phenomena occurring in 2021 or conditions that may develop in the coming years. This publications describe five themes, three themes talks about COVID-19 pandemic and two themes is about human development. The first theme of this publication discussing the impact of COVID-19 on labor conditions, which are the characteristics of workers who are temporarily out of work and unemployed. This theme also analyze the probability of unemployment due to COVID-19 and temporarily not working due to COVID-19, after that, this theme identifies determinants of the unemployment and temporary unemployed. However, the second theme describes worker resilience during pandemic. The resilience concept of being used in this theme applies for workers who had been unemployed then found job during pandemic. This theme also discusses the duration of idle and the determinants that affect it. The third topic is about community behavior during pandemic. The forth theme discusses the determinants of life expectancy of the Indonesian population in 2020. These topics are relevant to be discussed since in COVID-19 pandemic, health issue has being discussed and affected other aspects of human life. Health development, employment and education and economic development are broadly part of human development. BPS-Statistics Indonesia measures the Human Development Index (HDI) regularly as a measure of human quality. There are many factors that influence the HDI, the demographic structure of the population and gender empowerment is one of these factors. The fifth theme will discuss the influence of the dependence ratio and woman empowerment on the HDI in 2020. This theme was the closing of this publication.
