Abstract

In 2017 BPS has conducted a study of the Gender Inequality Index (IKG) Measurement referring to the methodology used by the United Nation Development Program in designing Gender Inequality Index (GII). This study was gradually developed by adjusting the availability of data at the national and regional levels.
The study conducted in 2017 focused on selecting the best fit methodologi to measure index and selecting a number of indicators at the provincial level. In 2018, the study was deepened with a trial calculation at the municipal level using the selected method from the previous study. In 2019 the review was continued with a trial of the IKG calculation by adjusting for changes in the Susenas questionnaire (National Socio-Economic Survey). This year, the study is focused on looking at the description of the distribution of the IKG by region and comparing IKG with other gender development indicators to test the robustness and sensivity of the IKG results.
