Abstract

Ginger was a rhizome medicinal plant that had the highest harvest area in 2017, amounting to 10,675.97 hectares. The second sequence was turmeric with harvested area of 6,510.28 hectares, and the third is east indian galangal with harvested area of 2,099.25 hectares. Most of the rhizome medicinal plants in 2017 experienced a decrease in harvested area compared to 2016. The biggest decline in quantity occurred in ginger plants, down by 2,258.97 hectares from the previous year’s harvest area. Medicinal plants of the rhizome group that experienced an increase in harvest area in 2017 were turmeric. Turmeric harvested area increased from 5,171.71 hectares in 2016 to 6,510.28 hectares. In 2017, the medicinal plants of the non-rhizome group experienced an increase in harvested area were cardamom and king of bitter, the rest experienced a decrease in harvested area. The largest increase in harvested area was cardamom, which experienced an increase in harvested area of 484.84 hectares from the previous year. The biggest decrease in harvested area was the aloe vera crop whose harvest area decreased by 7.37 hectares from the previous year.Ginger plant is a plant in the rhizome group which experienced the biggest decline in production in 2017, which was down by 120,811 tons from last year. Whereas the biggest increase in production was turmeric, up by 20,899 tons from the previous year. In the non-rhizome group, the biggest decrease in production was aloe vera, which fell by 592 tons from the previous year. And cardamom plants are the biggest production, namely an increase of 4,645 tons from the previous year. The 2017 rhizome biopharmaca center provinces are East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sulawesi, Bengkulu and DI Yogyakarta. The province with the highest production for ginger, galangal and galingale is the provinces of East Java, Central Java and West Java. The highest production of turmeric is the provinces of East Java and Central Java.
