Abstract

A. Exports
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in July 2024 reached US$22.21 billion, increased 6.55 percent compared to exports in June 2024 and increased 6.46 percent compared to July 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in July 2024 reached US$20.79 billion, increased 5.98 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in June 2024 and increased 5.87 percent compared to July 2023.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports during January–July 2024 reached US$147.30 billion, decreased 1.47 percent over the same period in 2023. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$137.98 billion or decreased 1.75 percent.
  • Among the top ten commodities of non-oil and gas exports in July 2024, the highest increase was ores, slag, and ash, in amount of US$691.2 million or increased 3,973.44 percent from June 2024. On the other hand, the highest decrease was animal or vegetable fats and oils, in amount of US$770.2 million or decreased 28.58 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–July 2024 increased by 1.01 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries also increased by 10.55 percent; while exports of mining and others decreased by 12.35 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in July 2024 were China at US$4.82 billion, United States at US$2.15 billion, and Japan at US$1.78 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 42.11 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$3.71 billion and US$1.44 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, the largest exports of Indonesia in January– July 2024 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$21.32 billion (14.47 percent), followed by Kalimantan Timur at US$14.70 billion (9.98 percent) and Jawa Timur at US$14.59 billion (9.91 percent). 

B. Imports
  • Imports of Indonesia in July 2024 were worth US$21.74 billion, increased by 17.82 percent compared with June 2024, and increased by 11.07 percent compared with July 2023.
  • Imports of oil and gas in July 2024 were worth US$3.56 billion, increased by 8.78 percent compared with June 2024, and increased by 13.59 percent compared with July 2023.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in July 2024 were worth US$18.18 billion, increased by 19.76 percent compared with June 2024, and increased by 10.60 percent compared with July 2023.
  • The most significant increase in imports of non-oil and gas among the biggest ten commodities in July 2024 was machinery and mechanical appliances and part thereof which increased by US$555.4 million (21.25 percent). In contrast, optical, photographic, cinematographic, medical instruments was decreased by US$58.7 million (11.75 percent).
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January-July 2024 were China US$38.97 billion (35.49 percent), Japan US$7.88 billion (7.17 percent), and Thailand US$5.73 (5.21 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$19.59 (17.84 percent) and US$7.09 (6.45 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, imports of intermediate goods in January-July 2024 experienced the highest rise with a US$2,444.1 million (2.6 percent) increase, followed by the increase of consumption goods by US$638.4 million (5.38 percent). In contrast, capital goods experience a decrease by US$1.8 million (0.01 percent).
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in July 2024 experienced a surplus of US$0.47 billion, which mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$2.61 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$2.14 billion in oil and gas.
