Abstract

A. EXPORT
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in July 2022 reached US$25.57 billion, decreased 2.20 percent compared to exports in June 2022 but rose 32.03 percent compared to July 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in July 2022 reached US$24.20 billion, decreased 1.64 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in June 2022 but rose 31.58 percent compared to July 2021.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to July 2022 reached US$166.70 billion, increased 36.36 percent over the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$157.55 billion or increased 36.45 percent.
  • The highest decrease of non-oil and gas exports in July 2022 was iron and steel commodity, in amount of US$257.4 million or decreased 11.51 percent from June 2022. The highest increase was mineral fuels commodity, in amount of US$354.2 million or increased 6.86 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–July 2022 increased by 24.62 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 14.93 percent; and exports of mining and others increased by 104.59 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in July 2022 were China at US$5.03 billion, United States at US$2.51 billion, and India at US$2.26 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 40.50 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.68 billion and US$1.88 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January–July 2022 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$22.53 billion (13.52 percent), followed by Kalimantan Timur at US$19.67 billion (11.80 percent) and Jawa Timur at US$14.86 billion (8.92 percent).

B.IMPORTS
  • Imports of Indonesia in July 2022 were worth US$21.35 billion, increased by 1.64 percent compared with June 2022, or rose by 39.86 percent compared with July 2021.
  • Imports of oil and gas in July 2022 were worth US$4.46 billion, rose by 21.30 percent compared with June 2022, or increased by 148.38 percent compared with July 2021.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in July 2022 were worth US$16.89 billion, decreased by 2.53 percent compared with June 2022, yet grew by 25.41 percent compared with July 2021.
  • The most significant increase in imports of non-oil and gas in July 2022 was precious metals and jewellery/precious stones, which grew by US$193.7 million (62.51 percent). On the other hand, machinery/mechanical appliances and parts thereof experienced the highest fall with US$175.6 million (6.28 percent) decrease.
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January–July 2022 were China US$38.02 billion (33.47 percent), Japan US$9.85 billion (8.67 percent), and Thailand US$6.78 billion (5.97 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$19.69 billion (17.33 percent) and US$6.32 billion (5.56 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, the total of Indonesia imports for all broad economics categories in January–July 2022 experienced increases, which consisted of US$734.3 million (7.05 percent) of consumption goods, US$26,153.7 million (32.43 percent) of intermediate goods, and US$4,339.1 million (28.48 percent) of capital goods.
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in July 2022 experienced a surplus of US$4.23 billion, which mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$7.31 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$3.08 billion in oil and gas.
