Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in March 2024 was 3.05 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.13. The highest inflation by province was seen in Papua Barat Province at 4.78 percent with a CPI of 106.61, while the lowest was seen in Papua Barat Daya Province at 1.42 percent with a CPI of 103.82. The highest inflation by regency/city was seen in Minahasa Selatan Regency at 6.29 percent with a CPI of 107.82, while the lowest was seen in Belitung Timur Regency at 0.88 percent with a CPI of 103.81.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 7.43 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.89 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.55 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.03 percent; Health Group of 2.17 percent; Transport Group of 0.99 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.62 percent; Education Group of 1.70 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.51 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.56 percent. Meanwhile, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.13 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in March 2024 was 0.52 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in March 2024 was 0.93 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in March 2024 was 1.77 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.23 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 0.57 percent.
