Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in February 2024 was 2.75 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.58. The highest inflation by province was seen in Papua Selatan Province at 4.61 percent with a CPI of 106.70, while the lowest was seen in Papua Barat Daya Province at 1.81 percent with a CPI of 103.44. The highest inflation by regency/city was seen in Minahasa Selatan Regency at 6.06 percent with a CPI of 107.25, while the lowest was seen in Belitung Timur Regency at 0.25 percent with a CPI of 103.48.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 6.36 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.90 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.57 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.13 percent; Health Group of 1.95 percent; Transport Group of 1.40 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.68 percent; Education Group of 1.55 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.38 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.09 percent. Meanwhile, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.13 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in February 2024 was 0.37 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in February 2024 was 0.41 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in February 2024 was 1.68 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.14 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 0.34 percent.
