Abstract

A. Growth of Tourism

  • In July 2023, international visitor arrivals in Indonesia were 1.12 million. International visitors increased by 74.07 percent compared with July 2022 (year-on-year) and 5.66 percent compared with June 2023 (month-to-month). International arrivals in July 2023 were dominated by visitors from Malaysia (13.96 percent), Australia (12.74 percent), and Singapore (9.78 percent).
  • Cumulatively, the international visitor arrivals from January to July 2023 also increased by 196.85 percent compared with 2022. This increase in international visitors was mainly recorded at Ngurah Rai Airport-Bali and Soekarno-Hatta Airport-Banten, which increased by 366.72 percent and 185.83 percent, respectively.
  • The room occupancy rate of classified hotels in July 2023 was 54.63 percent, which increased by 4.86 percentage points (year-on-year) and 0.96 percentage points (month-to-month). Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels was 25.74 percent, which increased by 1.05 percentage points (year-on-year) and 1.16 percentage points (month-to-month). The average length of stay at classified hotels was 1.68 days, scaled up by 0.07 points compared with the previous year.

B. Growth of National Transport

  • The number of domestic air transport passengers departing in July 2023 was 6.0 million, an increase of 9.11 percent compared to June 2023. International air transport passengers decreased by 5.51 percent to 1.3 million. From January to July 2023, the number of domestic air transport passengers was 36.4 million, increasing by 22.54 percent. The number of international air transport passengers was 8.4 million and increased by 258.55 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
  • The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing in July 2023 was recorded at 1.8 million, increasing by 4.98 percent compared to June 2023. The freight transported by domestic sea transport decreased by 0.78 percent, turning 29.8 million tons. From January to July 2023, the number of domestic sea transport passengers reached 11.4 million and increased by 12.06 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, freight increased by 9.76 percent, reaching 200.3 million tons.
  • The number of railway passengers departing in July 2023 was 32.9 million people, which increased by 8.97 percent compared to June 2023. Furthermore, freight transported by train increased by 3.93 percent to 6.0 million tons. The number of passengers reached 207.1 million from January to July 2023 and increased by 44.95 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Moreover, the cumulative freight transported by train rose by 12.34 percent to 38.3 million tons.
