Abstract

  • In September 2023, international visitor arrivals in Indonesia were 1.07 million. International visitors increased by 52.76 percent compared with September 2022 (year-on-year), but slightly decreased by 5.51 percent compared with August 2023 (month-to-month). International arrivals in September 2023 were dominated by visitors from Malaysia (14.22 percent), Australia (13.09 percent), and Singapore (10.72 percent).
  • Cumulatively, the international visitor arrivals from January to September 2023 also increased by 143.41 percent compared with 2022. This increase in international visitors was mainly recorded at Ngurah Rai Airport-Bali and Soekarno-Hatta Airport-Banten, which increased by 230.12 percent and 142.01 percent, respectively.
  • In the third quarter of 2023, domestic tourist trips in Indonesia reached 192.52 million trips. This number increased by 13.36 percent compared to the third quarter of 2022 (year-on-year). Throughout the third quarter, the highest number of domestic trips occurred in July 2023, which reached 73.69 million trips. Jawa Timur was recorded as the province with the highest number of domestic trips, both as the province of origin and as the province of destination.
  • The room occupancy rate of classified hotels in September 2023 was 53.02 percent, which increased by 3.00 percentage points (year-on-year) and 0.56 percentage points (month-to-month). Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels was 24.82 percent, which increased by 1.43 percentage points (year-on-year) but slightly decreased by 0.66 percentage points (month-to-month). The average length of stay at classified hotels was 1.62 days, declined by 0.02 points (year-on-year).
