Farmers’ Terms of Trade (FTT) December 2022 was 109.00 or up 1.11 percent. Dried harvested grain (GKP) price at the farmer level increased by 4.20 percent and the price of premium quality rice at huller level increased by 4.21 percent.

Abstract

  • FTT is ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).
  • FTT is an indicator to measure the farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.
  • In December 2022, national FTT was 109.00 or increased by 1.11 percent compared with that in November 2022. The increase of FTT was due to the increase in index of prices received by farmers (It) at 1.83 percent higher than the increase in index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) at 0.72 percent.
  • Nationally, FTT was 107.33 in January–December 2022, with the index of prices received by farmers (It) was 120.67 and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) was 112.43.
  • In December 2022, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province experienced the highest increase of FTT at 2.26 percent. On the other hand, Sulawesi Barat Province had the highest decrease of FTT at 2.47 percent.
  • The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in December 2022 increased by 0.95 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the increase in all of the indexes of expenditure groups.
  • Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 108.96 in December 2022 or increased by 1.59 percent compared with November 2022.
  • There were 1,449 paddy sales transactions recorded in 26 provinces during December 2022. The percentage of transactions varied by the quality of the paddy, which was the dried harvested grain (GKP) 54.18 percent, dried unhusked grain (GKG) 32.02 percent, and the other quality 13.80 percent.
  • In December 2022, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp5,624 per kg, or increased by 17.83 percent, and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp5,748 per kg, or increased by 17.87 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in December 2021. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp6,166 per kg, or increased by 21.75 percent. Meanwhile, at the huller level was Rp6,278 per kg, or increased by 21.41 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp5,035 per kg, or increased by 17.01 percent. While at the huller level was Rp5,134 per kg, or increased by 16.94 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in December 2022 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 4.20 percent, 6.59 percent, and 0.26 percent, respectively. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in December 2022 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 4.06 percent, 6.42 percent, and 0.29 percent, respectively.
  • In December 2022, the survey of rice producer prices at the huller level was conducted in 31 provinces and recorded 1,113 observations from 876 milling businesses.
  • Compared to December 2021, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level in December 2022 was Rp10,954 per kg, or increased by 13.25 percent. The price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp10,371 per kg, or increased by 13.61 percent, and the average price of the other quality rice at the huller level was Rp9,807 per kg, or increased by 10.33 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of rice at the huller level in December 2022 for premium, medium, and the other quality increased by 4.21 percent, 2.46 percent, and 2.77 percent, respectively.
