Farmers’ Terms of Trade (FTT) January 2023 was 109.84 or up 0.77 percent. Dried harvested grain (GKP) price at the farmer level increased by 3.79 percent and the price of premium quality rice at huller level increased by 3.57 percent.

Abstract

  • FTT is ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).
  • FTT is an indicator to measure the farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.
  • In January 2023, national FTT was 109.84 or increased by 0.77 percent compared with that in December 2022. The increase of FTT was due to the increase in index of prices received by farmers (It) at 1.40 percent higher than the increase in index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) at 0.63 percent.
  • In January 2023, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province experienced the highest increase of FTT at 2.27 percent. On the other hand, Kalimantan Barat Province had the highest decrease of FTT at 2.11 percent.
  • The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in January 2023 increased by 0.68 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the increase in mostly of the indexes of expenditure groups.
  • Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 109.95 in January 2023 or increased by 0.92 percent compared with December 2022.
  • There were 1,338 paddy sales transactions recorded in 25 provinces during January 2023. The percentage of transactions varied by the quality of the paddy, which was the dried harvested grain (GKP) 55.31 percent, dried unhusked grain (GKG) 31.31 percent, and the other quality 13.38 percent.
  • In January 2023, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp5,837 per kg, or increased by 16.52 percent, and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp5,973 per kg, or increased by 16.72 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in January 2022. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp6,501 per kg, or increased by 20.63 percent. Meanwhile, at the huller level was Rp6,615 per kg, or increased by 20.24 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp5,164 per kg, or increased by 9.60 percent. While at the huller level was Rp5,284 per kg, or increased by 9.53 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in January 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 3.79 percent, 5.43 percent, and 2.57 percent, respectively. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in January 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 3.91 percent, 5.37 percent, and 2.90 percent, respectively.
  • In January 2023, the survey of rice producer prices at the huller level was conducted in 31 provinces and recorded 1,140 observations from 881 milling businesses.
  • Compared to January 2022, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level in January 2023 was Rp11,345 per kg, or increased by 15.48 percent. The price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp10,802 per kg, or increased by 15.14 percent, and the average price of the other quality rice at the huller level was Rp10,228 per kg, or increased by 13.16 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of rice at the huller level in January 2023 for premium, medium, and the other quality increased by 3.57 percent, 4.15 percent, and 4.29 percent, respectively.
