Abstract

The deflation rate in February 2022 was 0.02 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.24. Of the 90 CPI cities surveyed, 53 cities had deflation, and inflation happened in 37 cities. Tanjung Pandan had the highest deflation of 2.08 percent with a CPI of 109.20, while Palembang, Palangka Raya, and Tarakan had the lowest deflation of 0.1 percent with CPI of 107.54; 108.50; and 108.41. On the other hand, Kupang registered the highest inflation of 0.65 percent with a CPI of 107.17 nd Tanjung Selor had the lowest deflation of 0.01 percent with a CPI of 106.29.
Deflation occurred as the prices went down as indicated by the decrease in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages and Tobacco Group of 0.84 percent and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group of 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, some groups had inflation: Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.09 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.25 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group at 0.45 percent; Health Group at 0.33 percent; Transport Group at 0.07 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group at 0.34 percent; Education Group at 0.07 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group at 0.53 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group at 0.60 percent.
The year-to-date inflation rate (February 2022 compared to December 2021) was 0.54 percent, and the year-on-year inflation (February 2022 compared to February 2021) was 2.06 percent.
The Core Component increased by 0.31 percent in February 2022. The year-to-date inflation rate of the Core Component (February 2022 compared to December 2021) was 0.72 percent. The year-on-year inflation of the Core Component (February 2022 compared to February 2021) was 2.03 percent.
