Abstract

  • The inflation rate in April 2022 was 0.95 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 109.98. All of the 90 CPI cities surveyed recorded inflation. Tanjung Pandan had the highest inflation of 2.58 percent with a CPI of 113.46, while Gunungsitoli had the lowest inflation of 0.22 percent with a CPI of 110.58.
  • Inflation occurred as the prices went up as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 1.76 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.28 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 0.66 percent; Health Group of 0.31 percent; Transport Group at 2.42 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group at 0.20 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group at 0.55 percent; Personal Care and Other Services Group at 0.75 percent. On the other hand, Clothing and Footwear Group recorded deflation of 0.01 percent. Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group and Education Group were unchanged.
  • The year-to-date inflation rate (April 2022 compared to December 2021) was 2.15 percent, and the year-on-year inflation (April 2022 compared to April 2021) was 3.47 percent.
  • The Core Component increased by 0.36 percent in April 2022. The year-to-date inflation rate of the Core Component (April 2022 compared to December 2021) was 1.39 percent. The year-on-year inflation of the Core Component (April 2022 compared to April 2021) was 2.60 percent.
