Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the index of prices received by farmers (It) against the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumed and for production costs. The higher the NTP, the stronger the ability / purchasing power of farmers is relatively stronger.
  • The December 2018 national NTP was 103.16, up 0.04 percent compared to the previous month's NTP. The increase in NTP is due to the Farmer Accepted Price Index (It) which rose by 0.54 percent more than the increase in the Farmer Paid Price Index (Ib) of 0.50 percent.
