Abstract
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2011 was 126.50 or inflated 0.55 percent from May 2011 at 125.81. In June 2011, the changes of each expenditure group as follows: the foodstuff increased from 144.01 to 145.84 or inflated 1.27 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 134.86 to 135.41 or inflated 0.41 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased from 121.76 to 122.13 or inflated 0.30 percent; the clothing increased from 129.10 to 129.84 or inflated 0.57 percent; the health increased from 118.69 to 119.18 or inflated 0.41 percent; the education, recreation and sport increased from 118.83 to 119.04 or inflated 0.18 percent, and the transportation, communication and financial services increased from 106.90 to 107.06 or inflated 0.15 percent.
The inflation in June 2011 was mainly caused by price increases of several commodities, i.e.: rice, purebred chicken meat, red onion, purebred chicken eggs, fresh fish, tomato (vegetable), filter cigarette, gold accessories, rental house fee, household fuel, passenger plane fare, preserved fish, kangkung, orange, tomato (fruit), cooked rice and side dishes served together, clove-flavored cigarette, leasing house fee, motorcycle, and maintenance/service fare of personal vehicle. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were decreased, i.e.: red chili, small chili, sugar, spinach, garlic, and gasoline.
In June 2011, the core of CPI changed from 122.17 to 122.57 or inflated 0.33 percent (see Table 2). The administered price component changed from 120.72 to 121.11 or inflated 0.32 percent and the volatile component changed from 145.99 to 148.07 or inflated 1.42 percent.
The core inflation rate of calendar 2011 and year on year (June 2011 to June 2010) were 1.91 percent and 4.63 percent respectively. While inflation rate of the administered price component of calendar 2011 and year on year were 1.48 percent and 5.61 percent respectively. Furthermore, inflation rate of the volatile component of calendar 2011 and year on year were -1.74 percent and 8.57 percent.
