Abstract

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November 2010 was 124.03 or inflated 0.60 percent from October 2010 at 123.29. In November 2010, the changes of each expenditure group as follows: the foodstuff increased from 141.25 to 143.36 or inflated 1.49 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 131.50 to 132.11 or inflated 0.46 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased from 119.24 to 119.54 or inflated 0.25 percent; the clothing increased from 124.29 to 125.40 or inflated 0.89 percent; the health increased from 115.58 to 115.68 or inflated 0.09 percent; the education, recreation and sport increased from 117.68 to 117.78 or inflated 0.08 percent, and the transportation, communication and financial services increased from 105.83 to 105.84 or inflated 0.01 percent.

The inflation in November 2010 was mainly caused by price increases of several commodities, i.e.: rice, red chili, shallot, gold accessories, cooking oil, string bean, tomato (vegetable), small chili, filter cigarette, bean, cucumber, orange, tomato (fruit), fried chicken, cooked noodle, cooked rice & side dishes served together, sugar, clove-flavored cigarette, brick, leasing house fee, sand, rental house fee, wages of labor and gasoline. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were decreased, i.e.: purebred chicken meat and passenger plane fare.

In November 2010, the core of CPI changed from 119.46 to 119.82 or inflated 0.30 percent (see Table 2). The administered price component changed from 118.85 to 119.12 or inflated 0.23 percent and the volatile component changed from 143.46 to 145.89 or inflated 1.69 percent.

The core inflation rate of calendar 2010 and year on year (November 2010 to November 2009) were 3.89 percent and 4.31 percent respectively. While inflation rate of the administered price component of calendar 2010 and year on year were 5.20 percent and 5.92 percent respectively. Furthermore, inflation rate of the volatile component of calendar 2010 and year on year were 13.99 percent and 13.77 percent.
