Abstract

  • In March 2007, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 148.67, while the February CPI was 148.32 or inflated 0.24 %. In February, all of indices of expenditure groups increased. The food stuff index increased from 147.99 to 148.22 or inflated 0.16 %; prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco from 142.07 to 142.58 or inflated 0.36 %; housing, water, electric, gas and fuel from 150.60 to 151.03 or inflated 0.29 %; clothing from 129.90 to 130.43 or inflated 0.41 %; health from 128.53 to 128.79 or inflated 0.20 %; education, recreation and sport from 148.19 to 148.23 or inflated 0.03 %; and the transport, communication and financial services from 167.27 to 167.42 or inflated 0.09 %.
  • The inflation of March 2007 was mainly pushed by: purebread chicken meat; red chili; green jackfruit; banana; filter cigarette; leasing house fee; gold accessories; fresh fish; bean; string bean; orange; melon; papaya; small chili; cooking oil; deep-fried; cooked noodle; cooked rice and side dishes served together; clove-flavored cigarette; wall paint; cement; rental house fee; and gasoline. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were decreased: tomato (vegetables); rice; purebred chicken eggs; potato; spinach; carrot; water melon; tomato (fruits); shallot; and kerosene. The inflation rate for January to March 2007 and year-on-year (March 2007 on March 2006) were 1.91 % and 6.52 % respectively.
  • In March 2007, the core of CPI changed from 137.59 to 137.83 or inflated 0.17 %. The volatile good component changed from 152.61 to 153.32 or inflated 0.47 %, and the administered good component changed from 180.73 to 180.98 or inflated 0.14 %. The core inflation rate for January to March 2007 and year-on-year (March 2007 on March 2006) were 1.48 % and 5.87 % respectively. While the volatile inflation rate for January to March 2007 and year-on-year (March 2007 on March 2006) were 4.27 % and 13.73 % respectively. Furthermore the administered price inflation rate for January to March 2007 and year-on-year (March 2007 on March 2006) were 1.03 % and 2.40 % respectively.
