CPI and The Inflation Rate in January 2003 was 0.80%

Abstract

  • January 2003, was marked with inflation of 0.80 per cent. From the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 43 cities, inflation was experienced in 31 cities, while deflation was marked in 12 cities. The highest inflation was in Kupang (3.68 per cent), and the lowest was in Balikpapan (0.13 per cent). While the biggest deflation was experienced in Manado ( -0.40 per cent) and the smallest was in Cirebon (0.11 per cent).
  • Based on the group of expenditures, the inflation was contributed by the increases in the price of prepared food, beverages, and tobacco products (1.95 per cent). housing (2.31 per cent), clothing (0.96 per cent), health (1.05 per cent), education, recreation and sports (0.02 per cent) and transportation & communication (1.13 per cent). Mean while, the price of unprepared food experienced a decrease of 1.54 per cent.
