December 23, 2024 | Other Activities

Statistics Indonesia (BPS), represented by Deputy Chief Statistician for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, participated in the Ninth Session of the Committee on Statistics in Bangkok from December 9–13, 2024. This event formed part of the Asia-Pacific Statistics Week 2024, themed "Power of Data." The session featured two segments: the Senior Officials segment on December 11 and the High-Level segment on December 12–13.

During the High-Level segment, member state representatives reviewed progress in implementing the Declaration on Navigating Policy with Data to Leave No One Behind. Delegates reflected on priority actions requiring resources, initiatives, and active government and community engagement to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Senior Officials segment focused on critical discussions about building agile and resilient statistical systems to address future challenges. Delegates also highlighted priority issues and strategies for implementing decisions made at earlier sessions.

Indonesia showcased several strategic initiatives, including the One Data Indonesia framework, the use of new data sources for official statistics, and various statistical innovations to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Indonesia also leveraged the opportunity to promote its achievements and innovations through a dedicated booth at the exhibition, underscoring its commitment to enhancing the quality and relevance of data regionally and globally.

This session coincided with the 20th Governing Council meeting of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific, held from December 9–10, 2024.
