Following last month's Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with various ministries and agencies on the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026), Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has now turned to business associations for further support. Over a two-day session held from September 11 to 12 in Jakarta, BPS organized an FGD aimed at gathering input on the initial trial phase of SE2026.
Representatives from 14 business associations attended the discussions. BPS' Deputy Chief Statistician for Production Statistics, M. Habibullah, opened the event, encouraging active dialogue: “This new approach is expected to provide richer data for SE2026 and better public engagement. But with everything now online, identifying all businesses is a challenge. We look forward to your association's help in making this possible,” he said. Deputy Chief Statistician for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, joined on the second day to reinforce the agency's commitment to collaborative planning.
The session was moderated by BPS Director of Price Statistics, Windhiarso Ponco Adi, who noted the discussion's dual purpose of gaining support and building strong ties with the business sector. “We're here to develop practical, targeted census strategies and gather fresh perspectives from industry representatives,” Windhiarso explained.
Participants responded positively, pledging support and noting the advantages of BPS's data collection efforts. “We're ready to coordinate with businesses under our umbrella. Clear and structured communication from BPS will be essential to effectively share this information,” said Budi Primawan, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) and a representative from Lazada.
