Bogor - "Cocoa commodities are one of the favorite products of the millennial generation. In addition to chocolate, cocoa can be made cakes, drinks, and even make up. Cocoa can also be used as a symbol of liking. When men like the opposite sex, to express their favorite given chocolate. Hayo ... who is the woman in this room who likes chocolate? "Joked Hermanto, BPS Director of Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation Statistics in front of National Instructor (Innas) participants in the 2019 Cocoa Plantation Strategic Commodity Survey (VKAKAO2019) at Amaroossa Hotel, (12 / 3) who was greeted with a smile of female participants.

One of the agenda for the National Medium Term Development Year 2020-2025 is to increase people's productivity and competitiveness in the international market. The agricultural sector is a sector that is expected to be independent to strengthen the national economy. "Cocoa is one of the government's mainstay commodities for foreign exchange sources. Indonesia is the third cocoa producer in the world after Ghana and Ivory Coast. But is Indonesia capable of dominating the market? How to convince the world that Indonesia is a big cocoa producer? This opinion must be built by Indonesia with data. With data, the world is convinced that Indonesia has large cocoa, this is where BPS plays a role, "Hermanto said in his remarks in front of around 40 participants.

At present, there is still debate about cocoa data. Harmonization of data is needed to realize one data. Many parties who want BPS to take a leading role in realizing this. After data on paddy was released using the Area Sample Framework method, many parties from academics, observers, associations, and ministries / agencies wanted in the future BPS could resolve the problems of other strategic commodity data, such as corn, soybeans, chillies, onions, palm oil, cocoa and rubber so that one data materializes. With representative data, the government becomes confident in making the right planning.

This VKAKAO2019 will be conducted in five provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, South Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi.
