Abstract

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the basis for realizing agricultural policies that are right on target. Since 2018, BPS has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) which has now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/BPN ), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) seeks to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvest area through the application of objective measurements by utilizing advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high-resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration was realized in an activity entitled "Integrated Food Crop Agricultural Statistics Data Collection Using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method" or better known as the KSA Survey. The implementation of the KSA Survey for rice commodities began to be implemented nationally in 2018. Field observations of the KSA Survey were carried out on the last 7 (seven) days of each month.
