Integrated System of Environmental-Economic Accounts of Indonesia 2016-2020

The national development of Indonesia is currently not only focused on high economic growth, but also have to refer to sustainable economic development. Sustainable economic development is intended to meet the needs and improve the quality of life, without having to sacrifice the opportunity of future generations by considering the sustainability of the environment. In measuring long-term economic development related to environmental aspects, the presentation of Gross Domestic Product figures should be extended by taking into account the depletion of natural resources and the environmental degradation, in order to be able to provide a comprehensive picture for sustainable economic development. The compilation of the publication “Integrated System of Environmental-Economic Accounts of Indonesia 2016-2020” is intended to provide an overview of the impact of development on the availability and role of natural resources in economic activities. This publication comprises a study of land cover by group of islands and the calculation of the depletion rate of some natural resources which are summarized in the physical and monetary asset accounts.
