Abstract

Environmental Statistics of Indonesia (ESoI) 2020is an annual BPS-StatisticsIndonesia publication series that presents various types of data on environmentalconditions in Indonesia sourced from BPS and other institutions.Since this publicationwas first published in 1982, the framework for developing environmental statisticshas followed the development of rules and recommendations recommended in thecompilation of existing environmental statistics.Since 2015, the discussion in thispublication has complied with the framework for the development of environmentalstatistics in 2013 that has been developed by the United Nations Statistics Division(Framework for The Development of Environment Statistics - FDES, 2013). Efforts to conserve natural resources are a challenge in sustainable development. In the 2020-2024 RPJMN, environmental issues are also a national priority. Wateravailability is one of the parameters that must be considered in any developmentplanning process and determining the sustainability of national development. Thispublication takes the theme “Water and the Environment”. The importance of thistheme is based on the fact that although the overall national water reserve is stillin the safe category, there are still problems in terms of accessibility, continuity, and quality that does not meet standards. In addition, the focus on this theme is tosupport Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Ensuring theAvailability and Sustainable Management of Water and Sanitation for All.
