Abstract

The 2018 Criminal Statistics publication presents an overview of the level and trend of crime in Indonesia during the period 2015-2017. The information presented includes three main approaches to criminal statistics, namely the perpetrator's approach, the victim's approach, and the regional approach. The data presented in this publication are obtained from two main sources of criminal statistics, (1) Administrative based data, namely criminal data collected by the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) and (2) Survey-based data, namely criminal data sourced from the National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and Village Potential Data Collection (Podes) produced by the BPS-Statistics Indonesia.Police registration data records that the crime rate for the period 2015-2017 has decreased. The number of people affected by crime in every 100,000 population in 2015 was around 140 people, to 140 people in 2016, and decreased to 129 in 2017.the National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) data that illustrates the percentage of the population being victims of crimes in Indonesia during the period 2016-2017 also shows a similar pattern. The percentage of victims of crime has decreased from 1.22 percent in 2016 to 1.18 percent in 2017. Based on the Village Potential Data Collection (Podes) data for the period 2011-2018 the number of villages / kelurahan that became the scene of mass conflict tended to increase, from around 2,500 villages in 2011 to around 2,800 villages / kelurahan in 2014, and again increased to around 3,100 villages / kelurahan in 2018.
