Abstract

  • In September 2024, the expenditure inequality in Indonesia, as measured by Gini Ratio, was 0.381. This represents an increase of 0.002 points compared to the Gini Ratio of 0.379 in March 2024 and a decrease of 0.007 points compared to the Gini Ratio of 0.388 in March 2023.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas was 0.402 in September 2024, reflecting an increase from the Gini Ratio March 2024 (0.399) and a decrease from the Gini Ratio in March 2023 (0.409).
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas was recorded at 0.308 in September 2024, reflecting an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2024 (0.306) and a decrease compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2023 (0.313).
  • According to the World Bank’s inequality measurement, in September 2024, the expenditure share of the lowest 40 percent population was 18.41 percent. When specified by region, the figure was 17.44 percent in urban areas and 21.39 percent in rural areas.
