Abstract

A. Exports

  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in November 2024 reached US$24.01 billion, decreased 1.70 percent compared to exports in October 2024 but increased 9.14 percent compared to November 2023. 
  • Non-oil and gas exports in November 2024 reached US$22.69 billion, decreased 1.67 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in October 2024 but increased 9.54 percent compared to November 2023. 
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports during January–November 2024 reached US$241.25 billion, increased 2.06 percent over the same period in 2023. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$226.91 billion or increased 2.24 percent. 
  • Among the top ten commodities of non-oil and gas exports in November 2024, the highest decrease was animal or vegetable fats and oils, in amount of US$317.9 million or decreased 10.48 percent from October 2024. On the other hand, the highest increase was nickel and articles thereof, in amount of US$467.6 million or increased 87.26 percent. 
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–November 2024 increased by 4.70 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries also increased by 26.80 percent; while exports of mining and others decreased by 8.83 percent compared to the same period in 2023. 
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in November 2024 were China at US$6.24 billion, United States at US$2.34 billion, and India at US$1.58 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 44.82 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.09 billion and US$1.37 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, the largest exports of Indonesia in January– November 2024 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$34.73 billion (14.40 percent), followed by Jawa Timur at US$23.62 billion (9.79 percent) and Kalimantan Timur at US$23.05 billion (9.55 percent).

B. Imports

  • Imports of Indonesia in November 2024 were worth US$19.59 billion, decreased by 10.71 percent compared with October 2024, but increased by 0.01 percent compared with November 2023. 
  • Imports of oil and gas in November 2024 were worth US$2.57 billion, decreased by 29.88 percent compared with October 2024, and decreased by 26.32 percent compared with November 2023. 
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in November 2024 were worth US$17.02 billion, decreased by 6.87 percent compared with October 2024, but increased by 5.71 percent compared with November 2023. 
  • The most significant decrease in imports of non-oil and gas among the biggest ten commodities in November 2024 was electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof which decreased by US$404.4 million (15.49 percent). In contrast, sugars and sugar confectionery was increased by US$75.8 million (25.19 percent). 
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in November 2024 were China US$6.53 billion (38.35 percent), Japan US$1.49 billion (8.76 percent), and the United States US$0.76 billion (4.47 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$2.75 billion (16.18 percent) and US$0.99 billion (5.80 percent), respectively. 
  • Compared with the same period last year, imports of intermediate goods in January–November 2024 experienced the highest rise with a US$7.31 billion (4.96 percent) increase, followed by the increase of capital goods by US$1.41 billion (3.92 percent) and consumption goods by US$0.90 billion (4.62 percent). 
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in November 2024 experienced a surplus of US$4.42 billion, which mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$5.67 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$1.25 billion in oil and gas.
