Abstract

  • In March 2024, the poor population percentage decreased into 9.03 percent.
  • The percentage of people living in poverty in March 2024 was 9.03 percent, decreased 0.33 percentage points from March 2023 and down 0.54 percentage points from September 2022.
  • In March 2024, there were 25.22 million poor people in Indonesia, decreased by 0.68 million people compared to March 2023 and decreased by 1.14 million people compared to September 2022.
  • The percentage of the poor in urban areas in March 2024 was 7.09 percent, down by 0.20 percentage points compared to March 2023 (7.29 percent). On the other hand, the percentage of the poor in rural areas in March 2024 was 11.79 percent, and it down from 12.22 percent in March 2023.
  • Compared to March 2023, the number of poor people in urban areas in March 2024 decreased by 0.1 million people, from 11.74 million people in March 2023 to 11.64 million people in March 2024. Meanwhile the number of the poor in rural areas decreased by 0.58 million people, from 14.16 million people in March 2023 to 13.58 million people in March 2024.
  • The poverty line in March 2024 was IDR 582,932/capita/month. It is consist of the Food Poverty Line at IDR 433,906 (74.44 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line at IDR 149,026 (25.56 percent).
  • In March 2024, poor households in Indonesia had an average of 4.78 household members. Thus, the poverty line per poor household on average is IDR 2,786,415/poor household/month.
