Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in September 2023 was 2.28 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.44. The highest inflation was seen in Manokwari at 5.26 percent with a CPI of 119.96, while the lowest was seen in Manado and Gorontalo at 1.16 percent each with CPI of 113.96 and 113.23, respectively.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in all expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 4.17 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.98 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 1.26 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.97 percent; Health Group of 2.14 percent; Transport Group of 0.99 percent; Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.06 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.58 percent; Education Group of 2.08 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.40 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.68 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in September 2023 was 0.19 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in September 2023 was 1.63 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in September 2023 was 2.00 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.12 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 1.46 percent.
