Abstract

  • In March 2023, the Indonesian expenditure inequality rate, as measured by Gini Ratio, was 0.388. The figure increased by 0.007 points with September 2022 Gini Ratio at 0.381 and by 0.004 points compared to March 2022 Gini Ratio at 0.384.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.409, which increased compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2022 (0.402) and March 2022 (0.403).
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.313, the same as September 2022 (0.313) but decreased compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 (0.314).
  • According to World Bank’s inequality measurement, expenditure distribution for the lowest 40 percent population was 18.04 percent. That means the population’s expenditure in September 2022 was in the range of the low inequality category. The figure was recorded at 16.99 percent in urban areas when specified by region, indicating a moderate inequality category, while in rural areas was recorded at 21.18 percent, indicating a low inequality category.
