Abstract

A. EXPORTS
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in December 2022 reached US$23.83 billion, decreased 1.10 percent compared to exports in November 2022 but increased 6.58 percent compared to December 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in December 2022 reached US$22.35 billion, decreased 2.73 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in November 2022 but increased 4.99 percent compared to December 2021.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to December 2022 reached US$291.98 billion, increased 26.07 percent over the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$275.96 billion or increased 25.80 percent.
  • The highest decrease of non-oil and gas exports in December 2022 was mineral fuels commodity, in amount of US$483.1 million or decreased 9.44 percent from November 2022. The highest increase was nickel and articles thereof, in amount of US$220.0 million or increased 41.50 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–December 2022 increased by 16.45 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry and fisheries increased by 10.52 percent; and exports of mining and others increased by 71.22 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in December 2022 were China at US$5.79 billion, Japan at US$2.08 billion, and United States at US$2.06 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 44.39 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.28 billion and US$1.64 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January– December 2022 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$38.59 billion (13.22 percent), followed by Kalimantan Timur at US$36.46 billion (12.49 percent), and Jawa Timur at US$24.75 billion (8.48 percent).

B. IMPORTS
  • Imports of Indonesia in December 2022 were worth US$19.94 billion, increased by 5.16 percent compared with November 2022, but fell by 6.61 percent compared with December 2021.
  • Imports of oil and gas in December 2022 were worth US$3.20 billion, grew by 14,15 percent compared with November 2022, yet declined by 5.23 percent compared with December 2021.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in December 2022 were worth US$16.74 billion, increased by 3.60 percent compared with November 2022, yet declined by 6.87 percent compared with December 2021.
  • The most significant increase in imports of non-oil and gas in December 2022 was cereals, which grew by US$178.8 million (66.03 percent). On the other hand, plastics and articles thereof experienced the highest fall with US$124.3 million (14.46 percent) decrease.
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January– December 2022 were China US$67.16 billion (34.07 percent), Japan US$17.08 billion (8.66 percent), and Thailand US$10.85 billion (5.50 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$32.85 billion (16.67 percent) and US$11.63 billion (5.90 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, imports of intermediate goods in January– December 2022 experienced the highest increases with a US$33,956.7 million (23.04 percent) increase, followed by imports of capital goods which increased by US$7,727.6 million (26.99 percent). Meanwhile, consumption goods imports decreased by US$350.5 million (1.74 percent).
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in December 2022 experienced a surplus of US$3.89 billion, which mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$5.61 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$1.72 billion in oil and gas.
