Abstract

The Progress of Farmers’ Terms of Trade
  • FTT is the ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).
  • FTT is an indicator to measure farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.
  • In November 2022, the national FTT was 107.81, which increased by 0.50 percent compared to October 2022. The increased in FTT was due to the increase in the index of prices received by farmers (It) at 0.66 percent, while the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) increased at 0.15 percent.
  • In November 2022, Riau Province experienced the highest increase in FTT at 5.64 percent. On the other hand, Gorontalo Province had the highest decrease in FTT at 1.66 percent.
  • The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in November 2022 increased by 0.16 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the increase in mostly of the indexes of expenditure groups.
  • Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 107.25 in November 2022, which increased by 0.46 percent compared with October 2022.

Trend of Producer Price of Paddy and Rice at the Huller Level
  • There were 1,470 paddy sales transactions recorded in 26 provinces during November 2022. The percentage of transactions varied by the quality of the paddy, which was the dried harvested grain (GKP) 57.55 percent, dried unhusked grain (GKG) 26.87 percent, and the other quality 15.58 percent.
  • In November 2022, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp5,397 per kg, or increased by 16.06 percent, and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp5,523 per kg, or increased by 16.21 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in November 2021. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp5,785 per kg, or increased by 14.32 percent. Meanwhile, at the huller level was Rp5,900 per kg, or increased by 14.06 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp5,021 per kg, or increased by 13.96 percent. While at the huller level was Rp5,120 per kg, or increased by 14.00 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in November 2022 for GKP and the other quality increased by 0.81 percent and 3.61 percent, respectively, while GKG quality paddy decreased by 1.79 percent. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in November 2022 for GKP and the other quality increased by 0.87 percent and 3.41 percent, respectively, while GKG quality paddy decreased by 1.77 percent.
  • In November 2022, the survey of rice producer prices at the huller level was conducted in 31 provinces and recorded 1,143 observations from 887 milling businesses.
  • Compared to November 2021, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level in November 2022 was Rp10,512 per kg, or increased by 10.19 percent. The price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp10,122 per kg, or increased by 11.58 percent, and the average price of the other quality rice at the huller level was Rp9,542 per kg, or increased by 9.54 percent.
  • Compared to the previous month, the average price of rice at the huller level in November 2022 for premium, medium, and the other quality increased by 1.05 percent, 0.78 percent, and 0.27 percent, respectively.
