Abstract

A. Tourism Progress

  • In September 2022, the number of international visitor arrivals to Indonesia at the main entry gates was 538.32 thousand, dramatically increasing by 10,768.46 percent compared with September 2021. At the same time, international visitor arrivals in September 2022 increased by 5.50 percent compared with the previous month.
  • From January to September 2022, the number of international visitor arrivals to Indonesia at the main entry gates was 2.27 million, which increased by 2,530.58 percent over the same period in 2021.
  • The room occupancy rate of classified hotels in September 2022 was 50.02 percent, an increase of 13.38 percentage points from September 2021. Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate in September 2022 increased by 2.64 percentage points compared with August 2022. On the other hand, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels in September 2022 was 23.39 percent, which increased by 3.44 percentage points from September 2021 but slightly decreased by 0.30 percentage points from August 2022.
  • The average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests at classified hotels during September 2022 was 1.64 days, which increased by 0.05 percentage points compared with September 2021. While compared with the previous month, the average length of stay in September 2022 decreased by 0.02 percentage points.

B. Growth of National Transport

  • The number of domestic air transport passengers departing in September 2022 was 4.1 million and decreased by 2.93 percent compared to August 2022. The number of international air transport passengers increased by 11.52 percent to 919.3 thousand. From January to September 2022, the number of domestic air transport passengers was 38.1 million and increased by 93.74 percent. The number of international air transport passengers was 4.1 million and increased by 910.58 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing in September 2022 was recorded at 1.4 million, decreasing by 8.21 percent compared to August 2022. The freight transported by domestic sea transport increased by 1.61 percent, turning into 28.1 million tons. From January–September 2022, the number of domestic sea transport passengers reached 13.2 million and increased by 19.16 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, the amount of freight increased by 1.91 percent, reaching 238.3 million tons.
  • The number of railway passengers departing in September 2022 was 25.6 million people, which increased by 5.27 percent compared to August 2022. On the contrary, freight transported by train decreased 0.73 percent to 5.5 million tons. The number of passengers reached 192.8 million in January–September 2022 and increased by 85.76 percent compared to the same period in 2021. On the other hand, the cumulative amount of freight transported by train rose by 15.22 percent to 45.2 million tons.
