Abstract

A. EXPORTS
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in March 2022 reached US$26.50 billion, increased 29.42 percent compared to exports in February 2022 and rose 44.36 percent compared to March 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in March 2022 reached US$25.09 billion, increased 28.82 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in February 2022 and rose 43.82 percent compared to March 2021.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to March 2022 reached US$66.14 billion, increased 35.25 percent over the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$62.84 billion or increased 35.87 percent. „ The highest increase in non-oil and gas exports in March 2022 was mineral fuels commodity, in amount of US$1,632.5 million or increased 54.45 percent from February 2022.
  • The highest decrease was articles of iron or steel, in amount of US$20.1 million or decreased 11.77 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–March 2022 increased by 29.68 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 10.30 percent; and exports of mining and others increased by 78.65 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in March 2022 were China at US$5.48 billion, United States at US$2.83 billion, and India at US$2.06 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 41.34 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.98 billion and US$1.86 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January–March 2022 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$9.58 billion (14.48 percent), followed by Jawa Timur at US$6.87 billion (10.39 percent), and Kalimantan Timur at US$6.17 billion (9.33 percent).

B. IMPORTS
  • Imports of Indonesia in March 2022 were worth US$21.97 billion, rose by 32.02 percent compared with February 2022, or rose by 30.85 percent compared with March 2021.
  • Imports of oil and gas in March 2022 were worth US$3.49 billion, rose by 20.33 percent compared with February 2022, or inclined by 53.22 percent compared with March 2021.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in March 2022 were worth US$18.48 billion, rose by 34.50 percent compared with February 2022, or grew by 27.34 percent compared with March 2021.
  • The most significant increase in imports of non-oil and gas in March 2022 was electrical machinery/equipments and parts thereof, which rose by US$520.0 million (28.23 percent). On the other, tools, implements of base metal experienced the highest decrease, which fell by US$4.8 million (7.46 percent).
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January-March 2022 were China US$15.79 billion (32.76 percent), Japan US$4.24 billion (8.81 percent), and Thailand US$3.17 billion (6.57 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$8.72 billion (18.10 percent) and US$2.75 billion (5.70 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, the total of Indonesia imports for all broad economics categories in January-March 2022 experienced increases, which consisted of US$484.5 million (11.77 percent) for consumption goods, US$10,944.7 million (33.44 percent) for intermediate goods, and US$2,004.8 million (30.68 percent) for capital goods.
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in March 2022 experienced a surplus of US$4.53 billion, which was mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$6.62 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$2.09 billion in oil and gas
