Abstract

  • The inflation rate in December 2021 was 0.57 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 107.66. Of the 90 CPI cities surveyed, 88 cities had inflation, and deflation happened in two cities. Jayapura had the highest inflation of 1.91 percent with a CPI of 105.87. Pekanbaru had the lowest inflation of 0.07 percent with a CPI of 106.53. On the other hand, Dumai registered the highest deflation of 0.13 percent with a CPI of 107.70. Bukittinggi had the lowest deflation of 0.04 percent with a CPI of 106.59.
  • Inflation occurred as the prices went up as indicated by increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group at 1.61 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group at 0.22 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group at 0.10 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group at 0.24 percent; Health Group at 0.16 percent; Transport Group at 0.62 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group at 0.10 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group at 0.24 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group at 0.25 percent. On the other hand, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group had deflation of 0.10 percent. Education Group did not change.
  • The year-to-date inflation rate (January–December 2021) and the year-on-year inflation (December 2021 compared to December 2020) were 1.87 percent each.
  • The Core Component increased by 0.16 percent in December 2021. The yearto-date inflation rate of the Core Component (January–December 2021) and the year-on-year inflation of the Core Component (December 2021 compared to December 2020) was 1.56 percent each.
