Abstract

EXPORT
  • The value of Indonesia's exports in September 2021 reached US$20.60 billion, down 3.84 percent compared to exports in August 2021. Compared to September 2020, the export value rose by 47.64 percent.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in September 2021 reached US$19.67 billion, down 3.38 percent compared to August 2021, but up 48.03 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in September 2020.
  • Cumulatively, the value of Indonesia's exports from January to September 2021 reached US$164.29 billion, an increase of 40.38 percent over the same period in 2020, as well as non-oil and gas exports reaching US$155.46 billion, an increase of 39.84 percent.
  • The largest decrease in non-oil and gas exports in September 2021 compared to August 2021 occurred in animal/vegetable fats and oils of US$1,233.9 million (30.45 percent), while the largest increase occurred in iron and steel of US$286.2 million (16.24 percent). ).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports from the processing industry in January-September 2021 rose 35.40 percent compared to the same period in 2020, as well as exports of agricultural products rose 6.37 percent and exports of mining and other products rose 76.29 percent.
  • The largest non-oil and gas exports in September 2021 were to China at US$4.54 billion, followed by the United States at US$2.34 billion and Japan at US$1.54 billion, with the contribution of the three reaching 42.83 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$3.53 billion and US$1.58 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia's largest exports in January–September 2021 came from West Java with a value of US$24.67 billion (15.02 percent), followed by East Java with US$16.93 billion (10.31 percent) and East Kalimantan with US$16. .11 billion (9.80 percent).

IMPORT
  • The value of Indonesia's imports in September 2021 reached US$16.23 billion, down 2.67 percent compared to August 2021 or up 40.31 percent compared to September 2020.
  • Oil and gas imports in September 2021 were valued at US$1.86 billion, down 8.90 percent compared to August 2021 or up 59.15 percent compared to September 2020.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in September 2021 were valued at US$14.37 billion, down 1.80 percent compared to August 2021 or up 38.18 percent compared to September 2020.
  • The largest decline in imports of non-oil and gas categories in September 2021 compared to August 2021 was electrical machinery/equipment and parts of US$122.8 million (6.56 percent). Meanwhile, the biggest increase was mineral fuel with US$276.7 million (219.54 percent).
  • The three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imports during January–September 2021 were China US$39.12 billion (32.07 percent), Japan US$10.42 billion (8.54 percent), and Thailand US$6.55 billion (5.37 percent). percent). Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN were US$21.33 billion (17.49 percent) and the European Union US$7.78 billion (6.38 percent).
  • By category of use of goods, the value of imports from January to September 2021 against the same period the previous year saw an increase in consumption goods of US$3,498.3 million (32.99 percent), raw/auxiliary materials of US$28,926.8 million (37.97 percent), and capital goods US$ 3,110.7 million (18.42 percent).
  • Indonesia's trade balance in September 2021 experienced a surplus of US$4.37 billion, mainly from the non-oil and gas sector of US$5.30 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, there was a deficit of US$0.93 billion.
