Indonesia's Human Development Index (HDI) in 2020 reached 71.94

Abstract

  • The quality of health and education of the Indonesian people has increased, while in terms of adjusted per capita expenditure it has decreased.
  • The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on human development in Indonesia. This can be seen from the slowdown in the growth of the Human Development Index (HDI) in 2020 compared to previous years. Indonesia's HDI in 2020 amounted to 71.94 or grew 0.03 percent (an increase of 0.02 points) compared to the previous year's achievement.
  • The slowdown in HDI growth in 2020 was strongly influenced by a decrease in the adjusted average per capita expenditure. This indicator decreased from 11.30 million rupiah in 2019 to 11.01 million rupiah in 2020.
  • In terms of education, in 2020 children aged 7 years have the hope of being able to enjoy education for 12.98 years or almost equivalent to the length of time to complete education up to Diploma I level. This figure has increased by 0.03 years compared to the previous year which reached 12 , 95 years. In addition, the average length of schooling for people aged 25 years and over is still increasing by 0.14 years, from 8.34 years in 2019 to 8.48 years in 2020.
  • In terms of health, babies born in 2020 have the expectation to live up to 71.47 years, 0.13 years longer than those born in the previous year.
