Abstract
"The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February 2012 was 130.96 or inflated 0.05 percent from January 2012 at 130.90. In February 2012, the changes of each expenditure group as follows: the foodstuff decreased from 155.59 to 154.45 or deflated 0.73 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 139.47 to 139.95 or inflated 0.34 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased from 124.62 to 124.96 or inflated 0.27 percent; the clothing increased from 136.24 to 137.90 or inflated 1.22 percent; the health increased from 121.40 to 121.58 or inflated 0.15 percent; the education, recreation and sport increased from 124.12 to 124.22 or inflated 0.08 percent, and the transportation, communication and financial services increased from 108.39 to 108.46 or inflated 0.06 percent.
The inflation in February 2012 was mainly caused by price increases of several commodities, i.e.: gold accessories, rice, red onion, fresh fish, purebred chicken eggs, corn, jackfruit, cooked rice & side dishes served together, sugar, clove-flavored cigarette, filter cigarette, leasing house fee, rental house fee, household fuel, jeans pants for men, gasoline, and car. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were decreased, i.e.: red chili, tomato (vegetable), purebred chicken meat, potato, green chili, mustard greens, carrot, orange, tomato (fruit), small chili, and passenger plane fare.
In February 2012, the core of CPI changed from 126.04 to 126.46 or inflated 0.33 percent (see Table 2). The administered price component changed from 123.19 to 123.49 or inflated 0.24 percent and the volatile component changed from 158.92 to 157.43 or deflated 0.94 percent.
The core inflation rate of calendar 2012 and year on year (February 2012 to February 2011) were 0.77 percent and 4.31 percent respectively. While inflation rate of the administered price component of calendar 2012 and year on year were 0.68 percent and 2.88 percent respectively. Furthermore, inflation rate of the volatile component of calendar 2012 and year on year were 1.07 percent and 2.49 percent."
