Initial Evaluation and Progress of the 2024 Assessment of Sectoral Statistics Implementation

May 8, 2024 | Other Activities

Atqo Mardiyanto, Principal Secretary of BPS-Statistics Indonesia, began his speech by expressing gratitude for the hard work of all ministries and agencies, both central and regional, in capturing the maturity of statistical management in Indonesia. He made these remarks at the 'Initial Evaluation and Progress of the 2024 Assessment of Sectoral Statistics Implementation (the EPSS)' event in Jakarta on May 8.

This evaluation activity reflects the BPS's commitment to supporting sectoral statistics for ministries and agencies in Indonesia. The EPSS offers a metric to assess the accomplishments in statistical activities within each government agency, both at the central and regional levels. Additionally, in 2024, the EPSS results, presented as the Statistical Development Index, will serve as basis and one of indicators for the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform to evaluate Bureaucratic Reform in general view.

As per BPS’ Regulation Number 3 of 2022, the EPSS assessment comprises three stages: self-assessment conducted by the Internal Assessment Team (TPI), document evaluation, and interview and/or visit assessment by the Body Assessment Team (TPB). The ongoing self-assessment by the TPI since April 2, 2024, poses its own set of challenges for those involved. Hence, this initial evaluation forms an integral part of BPS's ongoing support to the ministries/agancies, ensuring timely completion of the first phase of this assessment.
