"The trade balance has been in surplus in a row for the last 23 months," said Head of BPS, Margo Yuwono when releasing the Official Statistics News today (18/04). This means, from May 2020 to March 2022, the value of Indonesia's exports is higher than the value of imports each month.
In more detail, Margo explained the export-import conditions in March 2022. In March, Indonesia's trade balance experienced a surplus of US$4.53 billion. This surplus value is higher than the surplus in February 2022 (US$3.83 billion) and January 2022 (US$0.96 billion).
"Hopefully this surplus will continue to increase and can have an impact on economic recovery in Indonesia," Margo hoped.
In particular, Margo also explained the conditions of Indonesia's exports and imports to Russia and Ukraine. Cumulatively, over the last 3 months, Indonesia's trade balance with the two countries has experienced a deficit. With Russia, there was a deficit of US$ 204.6 million, while with Ukraine it was a deficit of US$ 13.5 million.
